Hi there! I’m Alejandra Ruiz, a Colombian illustrator based in Bogotá.
I create vibrant, textured illustrations inspired by everyday stories, folklore, and the diverse cultures of Latin America. With a background in children’s literature, my work focuses on empathy, inclusivity, and meaningful storytelling. I’ve illustrated award-winning books such as Abuela’s Letter and Ucumarí: Guardian of the Mountain, bringing stories to life with a cinematic approach, rich color, and a strong sense of place.
Beyond my artistic endeavors, I find inspiration in the simple joys of life, from observing the world around me to spending quality time with my furry companions and loved ones. As a storyteller at heart, I strive to spread empathy through my work, nurturing a love for reading and understanding in children and adults alike. With a deep-rooted commitment to celebrating diverse cultures and fostering connection through art, I aim to leave a lasting impact that touches hearts and minds.
